Jim Catalon:

About me.

Welcome friends to the "About Me" page of Jim Catalon at Get-Into-Cycling.com! My name is Jim and I am the youngest of the group here at Get Into Cycling. I hope that you find the information on our website both useful and entertaining.

Anywho, let me give you a brief glimpse of my life in cycling. Like most of you I've been riding bikes since I was a kid. I've always had a fascination with the mechanics of the bicycle. I remember around age 3 or 4, being intrigued by my dad's yellow 10-speed, playing with the pedals and watching the chain wind its way thru the various gears and pulleys.

Time passed on and I started taking up other hobbies and interests. It wasn't until around 1987 that I was watching a movie called American Flyers that the bike bug bit me. Only a year before, an American by the name of Greg Lemond won a bicycle race called the "Tour de France." Hmmmm.......interesting. The next day after watching the movie, I dug out my dad's old 10-speed.....the same one I had a fascination with so many years before. And the rest, like they say, is history.

I've been blessed to have experienced a different array of bicycle riding.....from mountain to road, from commuting to a little bit of racing (and I mean really little LOL).....all of this has helped mold me to the bicyclist that I am today. I've had my bicycling "highs" and "lows," but all in all, it's been fun. So my brothers and I decided to create this site to share our love of cycling with all of you and we hope you find this website to be just that....fun. Enjoy and please feel free to forward our page or link to a friend or family member and "spread the wealth & health." Don't forget to give a friendly wave and smile to a fellow rider and always wear a helmet! Happy riding!
