The Bulldog Cafe (The Book Loft)

The Bulldog Cafe is nestled in the rolling hills of California, just northeast of Santa Barbara, in the small Danish-themed community of Solvang. Now I have always been fond of this location because of it's quaint shops, friendly people and beautiful location, but I love it even more so since this town is a major stage point for the Amgen Tour of California and the former training ground of the now defunct USPS and Discovery professional bike teams.

But the "icing on the cake" of this town is this small, friendly coffee shop. Located along the main artery of Solvang on Mission Dr. this shop is adjacent to a small bookstore known as "The Book Loft" which is also a great place to find hard-to-locate books, but I digress.

What caught my attention about the cafe was not just the aroma of coffee and tasty pastries, but the numerous photos of professional cyclist and teams that plaster their walls. Photos of Lance Armstrong, Team Discovery and others great cyclists who have come by the shop to relax and get a cup of joe. Very cool, especially for a bike nut. Definitely a great place to visit and relax while in town.

So the next time you're in Solvang, California, don't forget to visit this great little cafe for an ice coffee or a scone and enjoy the great ambiance. It's definitely worth it.
